Email Potato is a living archive of real brand marketing emails. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, how we use it, and how you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data.
What we collect
- Newsletter signups. If you enter your email address in the newsletter form, we store that address and the date you signed up, so we can send you updates about new captures.
- Account data. If you create an account, authentication (email, password, session) is handled by our auth provider, Clerk. We do not store your password ourselves. We store your Clerk user ID against the captures you save or like.
- Captured brand emails. The core of the site is a public archive of real marketing emails sent by brands to addresses we control, or submitted by a signed-in member through the Submit flow. These are brand-to-consumer marketing emails, not private correspondence.
- Usage data. We record which captures you save, like, and view (view counts are stored in aggregate, not tied to your identity for anonymous visitors) to power features like your saved list and popularity ranking.
- Billing data. If you subscribe to Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. We store your subscription status and renewal date, never your card details.
How we use it
- To send the newsletter you signed up for.
- To operate your account: saved captures, likes, and submission history.
- To moderate community submissions before they appear publicly.
- To operate billing for the optional Pro plan.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (for example, rate limiting).
What we don’t do
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your email address or account activity with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Unsubscribing and deleting your data
We don’t yet have a self-serve unsubscribe link in the newsletter itself. To unsubscribe from the newsletter, or to request deletion of your account data or newsletter subscription, email us at yender@margaritacreative.com and we will action it promptly.
Cookies
We use a session cookie set by Clerk to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
